Kathy joined the American Cancer Society in the 1990s after losing her 26-year-old brother to a rare cancer. Looking for a way to honor him, Kathy found Relay For Life and then ACS CAN in 2006. Since losing her mother and brother to cancer, her siblings have fought three breast cancers, one lymphoma, and two skin cancers. Thanks to scientific advances due to research, all are survivors!
Kathy believes that uniting voices can send a powerful message to legislators at all levels of government. Cancer affects nearly everyone, and Kathy’s commitment to ACS CAN reflects her dedication to turning grief into action.
I’ve learned that cancer is not fair and does not affect everyone equally. We must continue to invest in cancer research so all of us can prevent and fight cancer.
