Kathy’s personal journey with cancer is over 25 years long. She lost her father to pancreatic cancer, her mother to multiple myeloma, one sister to breast cancer, and another sister to metastatic melanoma. She is also a 7-time skin cancer survivor.

I have hope. That hope is knowing that medical research and technology are now so vital in the fight against cancer. I also have hope in the support being given by our elected officials, who believe we can end cancer as we know it for everyone.

When Kathy learned about a clinical trial being done at her local cancer center to test an early detection blood test for cancer, she signed up. She provided her medical history and a blood sample and was told she would receive her results after two weeks. When she received the follow-up call, she was ecstatic to hear that she had no cancer cells in her blood. What a magnificent tool that may help millions find cancer early and survive.

Being a part of the study further solidified Kathy’s support for cancer research. She knows her family is not the only family that has been deeply affected by cancer, and they sadly won’t bethe last. She will continue to advocate for more dollars to go to cancer research in the hopes of more early detection tools.
