Jane is no stranger to cancer. Diagnosed in 1995 with breast cancer and in 2024 with lung cancer, her husband and her nephew have each faced their own experience with cancer. She understands first-hand the impact of research, noting: “I remember when a lung cancer diagnosis was a death sentence.” Jane never slowed down as a cancer advocate, attending every Mississippi Cancer Action Day for the last 18 years. She has led statewide smoke-free and teen tanning campaigns despite overwhelming opposition and continues her fight against cancer today.
Our family is beyond grateful for the research that has allowed my nephew, my husband, and me to survive our cancers. If our diagnoses had occurred even 20 years ago, none of us would have survived.
