Research helped him beat brain cancer twice

Danny’s journey with cancer has been both personal and profound. Personally, he is a two-time advanced-stage brain cancer survivor. Cancer has also ravaged his family; he lost both his parents to cancer at a young age, and his sister is a breast cancer survivor.

I am only here today to tell my story due to the federal funding of a breakthrough treatment. It’s simple: cancer research saves lives, and it saved mine.

Danny was first diagnosed with stage four brain cancer, glioblastoma in 2015. At the time, he was told he had 2-4 years to live. After a successful surgery, he defied the odds and remained cancer-free until 2022. After his second diagnosis, he faced several setbacks, including a stroke and temporary blindness. Luckily, recent scans have revealed no evidence of cancer in his brain.

As father to a seven-year-old son, Danny does everything he can to stay positive and focused on advocating for a cure — and inspiring others through his children’s book How Eddie Put a Smile on the Moon, which he wrote for his son. He knows that he would not be here today without the help of the consistent investment in cancer research, and he will continue to use his voice to advocate for further investment.
