A product of cancer research

Brittney was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 at age 26. As a young adult just starting her career, her entire life was upended. She went through testing and surgery, not really knowing what she was up against, and for the first time in her life, she was forced to face her own mortality.

I am quite literally a product of cancer research. I had papillary thyroid cancer, which is one of the more curable cancers there is. We can cure this cancer because of the consistent years of cancer research funding.

Although Brittney was the first member of her family to receive a cancer diagnosis, she was not the last. In the years since, she has watched several family members and many friends conquer or succumb to the disease.

Brittney had a thyroidectomy and has since been healthy. Thankfully, her cancer was diagnosed early, and she has had a high quality of life since her treatment. She continues to use her voice to advocate for cancer research so more people can survive cancer.
